The Agincourt HDSS is fortunate to have dedicated and passionate clinical staff working on our AWIGEN and PHIRST projects, who, led by Zola organised a health awareness day for all staff in the unit on the 6th May 2016.  The staff took the opportunity to celebrate the nursing profession.  Their manager, Zola Myakayaka reported that it gave the nurses an opportunity to revise their Nurses’ pledge, and she stated that the “day was a great success”. Nurses gave information on the following:

  • Back and pressure care for bed ridden family members
  • HIV care and the use of both male and female condoms
  • Breast examination
  • Vital signs – and people had their vitals checked
  • Mental health illnesses – emphasis on depression
  • Eye care information and eye examination and testing was done
