On the 30 November, Dawn Dalby was given an award for Exceptional Service. Dawn’s work ethic and dedication brings “service” to new levels. She is task driven and never works to time – long working hours are her norm. She identifies strongly with the strategic goals of the Unit, School and Faculty – to be a research intensive institution, producing scientific evidence that is internationally recognised and policy-relevant. On a personal level, she welcomes those who are new, comforts those who are distressed, attends to those who fall ill, and rejoices with those who have something to celebrate. She does this generously and selflessly, expecting nothing in return. One thing we know for certain is that there are many acts of kindness and concern we are unaware of.
